CSC Crop and Masstock tie-up
CSC and Masstock tie-up brings new opportunities for farmers in Scotland and the North of England Arable farmers in Scotland and the North of England are assured of continued innovative agronomy support, following the acquisition of CSC Crop Protection Ltd by Masstock Arable (UK) Ltd, the UK’s leading research-led input supplier.
The deal, which was announced on Tuesday 7th April, adds significant seed and fertiliser product portfolios to complement CSC’s agronomy, agrochemical and crop spraying service offer. In addition, CSC agronomists and customers will benefit from one of the UK’s most advanced arable research and development resources within Masstock’s SMART Farming approach.
The acquisition provides CSC with stability and a long term partner, within a business that shares its agronomy philosophy. In turn, it enables Masstock to further strengthen its agronomy core and regional presence in Scotland and the North of England.
“There is an excellent fit between the two organisations” says CSC’s Managing Director Shaun Drake. “Masstock’s SMART Farming research and significant involvement with seed and fertiliser, will offer CSC the opportunity to further develop our agronomy service offer and position us strongly to help our farming customers take advantage of future technological developments in agriculture. CSC’s industry-leading contract application capability and comprehensive technical resources offer exciting possibilities for the Masstock business”.
Explaining the rationale behind the acquisition, David Cribbin, Masstock’s Managing Director said “We believe that UK and European agriculture has a very positive outlook, based on increasing global demand for quality food ingredients and renewable energy. The role of the agronomist, offering R&D-based prescriptive advice is key to the future and CSC’s team have the highest credentials in this area. Bringing our two businesses together will ensure that Masstock and CSC can build on our shared resources and continue to offer our customers leading-edge support for their farming”.
As far as customers of Masstock and CSC are concerned, it is ‘business as usual’ with no changes to their regular contacts.
